Can Money Grow Like a Tree?

A story about saving for something BIG

Ages 4–8

Sadie has heard it before: money doesn’t grow on trees.

But if trees can grow with the right care… could money grow too?

With help from her older sister, Emma, and their enthusiastic dog, Abby, Sadie begins to discover that money grows a little differently. Saving means earning, adding, waiting, making choices and working toward something that matters.

When the girls decide to save for a trip to the zoo, every coin brings them a little closer to their BIG goal.

Can Money Grow Like a Tree? introduces young children to:

  • saving for a goal

  • earning and effort

  • needs and wants

  • making spending choices

  • patience and delayed gratification

  • the idea that small amounts can add up over time

Does Hockey Cost a Million Dollars?

Ages 4–8

Emma has been asking to play hockey for approximately…

FOREVER.

When her parents finally agree to look into it, Emma is ready to hit the ice!

But there's one small problem.

Hockey needs equipment. A LOT of equipment.

Skates, a helmet, gloves, pads, a stick… and that's before she even gets to play!

“Does hockey cost a MILLION dollars?”

With help from her family, Emma discovers that starting something new isn't just about wanting it. It's about understanding costs, comparing options, making choices and finding ways to make something you love fit within a family budget.

And sometimes, the best equipment doesn't have to be brand new.

Does Hockey Cost a Million Dollars? introduces young children to:

  • understanding the costs of activities and hobbies

  • distinguishing needs from wants

  • comparing prices and exploring second-hand options

  • appreciating that experiences and opportunities can be worth planning for
